Alec Ybarra is a Director of Photography who is noted for his commitment to understated and meditative storytelling. His approach prioritizes the sensory experience of the frame, moving away from conventional sharpness in favor of an elevated, minimalist, and human point of view.
In 2022, he lensed the narrative feature film The Silicant, which spanned a 25 day production schedule across Colorado and utilized a complex 3-ton G&E lighting design. The film went to the Marche du Film where it received 14 offers for distribution. His film, Of Indigo and Iron, premiered at Camden International Film Festival and was distributed on limited edition physical media by Los Angeles-based distributor Video Store.Age.
The Place Where Souls Leap Into Eternity was featured by Montreal-based curator FilmShortage as a Daily Pick Premiere and The Toymaker was screened at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
Based in Colorado and available for travel for worldwide.
